As the relinquishment of lands for the accommodation of the Blacks should be made by the individual convergence by deed under their respective hands and seals the following is the description of the lands relinquished by the Hon. M. Wallace for the accommodation of the Blacks settling in Preston.
That is to say a certain Tract Lott or parcel of Land situate and lying in Preston described as lott no 7, letter C on the general plan of Preston and containing 140 acres more or less being part of 235 acres of land purchased for the Maroons of Titus Smith, the whole of which was purchased at the general sale of the Maroon lands by Mr. Wallace and granted to him by Government.
This Lott of land lies but little more than a mile from Cole Harbour, to which there is a road going from Wentworth Hill directly through it, and on it is a considerable part of the Settlement in that place where the soil is good and the land well wooded and interspersed with excellent timber as the wood and timber is the easiest got to Market of almost any I know of. You will not probably think him more than compensated with a grant of 500 acres to be sought for in distant parts of the Province.
