It is proposed that fifty of the most expert and active of the Men of Colour should be immediately collected and placed on the Range of Lots assigned for those people that Provisions be deposited in the safe Custody of some person of Confidence and trust, as near to the proposed Settlement as possible -- and that these people be secured with a Weekly allowance upon the express condition of their remaining stead at their Work -- and these people to be employed for the general benefit of the whole, in the following manner:
Sixteen of them to be Sawyers, furnished with Eight Whip Saws -- with which they would cut 1,000 feet of board per day, sufficient to cover the Roofs and to floor two hours of 13 by 16 feet. Ten of these people used to Carpenter's Work to be Employed with Broad-axes, and Six with nailing hammers, Augers, and Chisels to hew Logs for Sawing into Boards, and the timber necessary for the Roffs, and to lay the floors on -- and do the little necessary -- Carpenters Work for Erecting of Log-houses -- the remaining 30 Men be each allowed a felling Axe, 3 Grind Stones for Common use, and a few hoes, Spades, pick axes and Trowels 2 X Cut Saws 2 froes, and 2 drawing Knives for making Shingles for battening the Roofs -- With these Men properly directed, Two houses with stone backs
