880. Joseph Aplin to Gideon White. He would have been in Shelburne long since had he not bee employed by the Assembly to draft bills. "I understand that Mr. Campbell's Seat will be vacated, on account of his Appointment to an Office in the Customs. Should this be the Case, (and it certainly will) I think it cannot be disagreeable to our mutual Friend, that I should succeed him as a Member. There are many Members belonging to the present House, who wish me in it. Perhaps you may guess the Reason why I am Wished to be among them." He wishes White to speak to Campbell on the subject, since he would do nothing that did not meet with Campbell's approval. Holograph.
