We the undersigned being present During a Conversation that passed between the Superintendant, and John Nisbett which began in the following manner; Nisbett asked for a barrel of flour on the 2~. Day of May 1848, and said that the last barrel of Flour that he had was Bad, Superintendant told him that he was sorry to hear him continually complaining about his provisions that he had found Fault with his Meat, & Molasses, and his Flour before this, and that he still managed to use use a good ^ Deal of it
Nisbett immediately told the Superintendant it was a damned lie, he did not Complain at the provisions, and if the Flour was good it would go Twice as far, a good deal of high Language followed this in the course of which Nisbett told the Superintendant he did not care a Damn for him, or his Master, eventually the Superintendant told him he would give him no more provisions, but to go to the Store himself and take what he wanted, and that he would hear no more Complaints from him, and that he went and got the Flour himself;
