Halifax April 7th 1848

Gentlemen

It appearing to His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor that John Campbell Esquire and not Mr. John Darby as stated in the Draft of your letter to the Governor of the Isle of Sable was the purchaser of the Fulton I am instructed to authorize you to hand over the property purchased and afford to Mr. Campbell the usual facilities for its removal.

I am also commanded to inform you that His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor has appointed Mr. William Townsend to proceed to Sable Island to investigate the complaints referred by you against the Governor of the Island and report generally upon the state of the public Establishment there
