four or twenty five Barrels of Mackerel were taken and cured by these deponents and the other hands employed on the Island, eleven of which Barrels were, at one time, two at another time and either two or three at another time shipped from the Island on board the Schooner Sisters, then under the command of Captain Joseph E.W. Darby and conveyed to Halifax.
That in the year 1845 three Barrels of Mackerel were taken and cured as aforesaid, shipped on board the Schooner "Daring", then commanded by Captain Joseph E.W. Darby, and conveyed to Halifax.
That in the year 1844 the said Superintendant delivered to this deponent James Jackson, one Barrel of Mackerel, which he at the time stated to said deponent he could sell to Captain Joseph E.W. Darby, then at the Island, for about six dollars_ that said deponent was to keep thereout one dollar for himself, and give one dollar to each of the other five hands engaged in catching the fish as aforesaid.
That in the year 1845 John Henry Darby, the son of the said Superintendant, gave to each of these deponents and the other hands the sum of one dollar_ That upon both of the above mentioned occasions it was
