in approaching it from the Sea is a continued Ridge of Land, broken in many Places by small naked Hills; generally about 150 feet above the Level of the Sea. Knights Hill near the East End is the highest Point of Land, and said to Exceed 200 feet.

The Body of the Island may be seen at the Distance of 3 or 4 Leagues in clear Weather, and the Surf heard as far.

The Land 2/3 of which is situated on the North Side of the Lake, appears to be unfit for Cultivation to any extent, it is interspersed with small fresh Water ponds abounding with wild Ducks and other Water Fowls - The present Inhabitants can with Difficulty raise a few Vegetables for there own Consumption.

Seals in small Quantities may be caught in the season, on the Shores and in the Lake, The Island is chiefly covered with long coarse grass mixed with the Wild Pea, which affords excellent Pasture for horned Cattle, a sufficient Quantity of which is cut and made into Hay for the Use of the Cattle in Winter - at present consisting of 30 head including 3 Yoke of Oxen, double that number might be kept with ease, but in that case it would be necessary to reduce the Quantity of wild Horses which from Report are about 70 in Number. --- There is a Quantity of Pigs on the Island, which thrive well and might be increased considerably provided Means were found to support them in severe Weather. Other Stock from the Report of Mr. Morris do not thrive on the Island.
