I have the honor to inform you for the information of His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor that in obedience to the order of Sir James [Nesmith?] I had proceeded with the survey of the settlement allotted to the Blacks at Preston, [illegible] to a grant [illegible] to them of their respective locations. but finding after the completion of the survey of Fifty lots, that the expense will very far exceed the sum I had calculated it could be done for I have to request you will ascertain from His Excellency whether it be his pleasure that the survey be continued the whole sum required for this service may probably be about £50.0-
