47) Halifax February 1816

Sir

Of yesterday pursuant to your request, visited he different Black Familys settled about Preston particularly Mrs Slennten at Bleur's, who I found nearly exhausted from inflamation of her lungs, of a fortnights duration, during which time no medical treatment had been made use of , I think there is a very small chance for her surviving _ another old women, in the wood near Bleurs was also very ill, and her situation was very unfaverable to her recovery, having neither comfortable lodgings,
or any other thing fit for me in her reduced situation. There was also a poor woman near the church who has lately been delivered of twins, both of which she lost, and appears in the last stage of consumption.
& unless she can be removed to a comfortable and warm house, she must inevitably die- several others among them were complaining, to all of whom and administered such assistance as
