Little Harbour is a community on the east side of Clam Bay, but accessed by a side road from Owls Head. Before the 1940s, it was primarily serviced by ocean until a proper road was constructed. It is an ideal location for inshore fishing and it has served that purpose for many generations of fishermen. At one time the community had a school, cooperative fish plant and store, as well as many wharves and fish shacks in which the fishermen kept their gear and boats. Today’s community is much smaller, but several boats are still operating from the government wharf, fishing for lobster, crab and groundfish. In the early 1900s Ebenezer Homans from Clam Harbour owned and operated a lobster canning factory in Little Harbour. Pictured here, this factory was a source of employment for many women and men. It was located down from the main wharf and across the "creek". Over the years others operated fish factories from the same location.
