Eastern Shore, Halifax County

Yearly Outing, West Jeddore

West Jeddore is one of the four communities which take their name from Jeddore Harbour. Jeddore is mentioned in very early surveys of the province but the first major settlements were by Loyalists after the American Revolutionary War in 1784. Fishing has been a way of life for many generations, and many of the present generation are keeping this tradition alive. This photo shows a group of children leaving on the last day of school for a hike to Big Head. This is the highest headland in the area, and was also known as Cooper's Head.
