Back Range Lighthouse, Pleasant Point

Pleasant Point is a community on the east side of the mouth of Musquodoboit Harbour about 15 km east of Musquodoboit Harbour. The lighthouse was used for years for navigational purposes to ensure the safety of fishermen and other vessels entering Musquodoboit Harbour. The Back Range Lighthouse is also referred to as the French Point Lighthouse. It was operated by the Kent family for a number of generations and lightkeeping duties remained in the family until the late 1950s when the light was automated. Today, the Coast Guard maintains the right to continue the light, however the building is on private property and is well maintained by the owners. Permission should be sought from the landowners before visiting the light.
