Many families cut their own firewood in the winter themselves, hauling it from their woodlots by ox or horse over frozen ground. Many Seaforth families would go as far as the Myra Road or Mineville across the frozen lakes to cut wood. This ox was owned by Edwin Nieforth and is pictured in front of the house of Lawrence Nieforth. The ox is hitched with a head yoke to an articulated bob sled. The sled is designed to bend with the lay of the land so that very large loads of logs can be moved over rough ground.
