This lighthouse was build in 1922 by the Government of Canada. It was lit by an oil lamp until August 15, 1951, when it was electrified and remained lit 24 hours a day. On June 6, 1973, the lighthouse was automated.
List of lighthouse keepers: Guillaume Henri d’Entremont from April 1, 1877, to July 31, 1939; Charles Angus d’Entremont from August 1, 1939, to October 31, 1961; and John Joseph (Josephat) Surette, from November 1, 1961 to October 17, 1973.
From October 17, 1973, the lighthouse was connected to the Cape Forchu office in Yarmouth. This lighthouse has now been removed to the Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
