Lochaber Mines and Malay Falls are two tiny communities located about fourteen kilometres inland from Sheet Harbour on route 374. At the turn of the last century these communities would have had a population of several hundred, their own church and one-room schoolhouse. The main industry was forestry, and several saw mills were in the area as well as a small gold mining operation. The area has long been a popular place for hunting and fishing. Shown here is the lumber camp cookhouse and bunk house of “Alec” (James Alexander) Cameron near Ten Mile Lake.
