Egg Island Light is situated on a small rocky island off the east side of Clam Bay. It was in operation as early as 1870, and was originally constructed as an octagonal tower. It was replaced several times because of heavy seas. The gully between the light and the house often flooded as waves washed over the island during high seas (note the bridge between the two buildings). This lighthouse was replaced by a skeleton tower before 1973 and is still operational today with an automated light.
