Lobster canneries, or "factories", were primitive enterprises by today's standards. However, they employed many people and provided employment opportunities for women outside of being a schoolteacher or house maid. Cans were often beautifully labeled with product artwork that included recipes for how to use the canned meat. East Jeddore today continues to have a strong fishery. This photo is located at Baker's Point, next to the government wharf. The building on the upper right belonged to Sam Ewan, then Joe Jennex. The barn just to the left of the smoke stack belonged to Euphoria Jane Power. On the far left is Azariah Baker's barn.
