Oblique aerial photograph taken towards the northwest, centred on Citadel Hill, showing the area from Argyle St. and the Royal Artillery Park to Cogswell St. and Chocolate Lake and the Chain Lakes in the distance. Significant locations that are no longer with us: the Sailors' Memorial on flanks of Citadel Hill, Nova Scotia Community College, CBC building, Queen Elizabeth High School, St. Pat's High School, Garrison Barracks, Chronicle Herald building (corner). This Sailors' Memorial deteriorated badly and had to be demolished in the late 1960s. Its stonework was ceremonially sunk in the Bedford Basin by the Royal Canadian Navy. A naval monument was re-built in Point Pleasant Park in 1967. Photograph by Atlantic Air Survey.
