The corner stone of the present church, blessed on June 19, 1903 by Mgr O’Brien, Archbishop of Halifax. It should be noted that Mgr. O’Brien was quite upset that the church was to be built of wood and not of stone as indicated on the plans he had approved. This resulted in an argument between he and Father Dagnaud in front of over 1300 people who were present for the ceremony. A visiting priest from New Brunswick had to intervene to calm them down.
