The Middleton Amateur Athletic Association was first organized in 1899 and by 1905 the Athletic Grounds were built on the corner of Church and School Street. Included in the grounds was a baseball field, quoits beds (a game similar to horseshoes but played with flat disks), a tennis court, refreshment stand and grandstand. The grounds were inclosed with a 4.5ft fence. In 1922 the Athletic Grounds was moved to its current location behind the Macdonald Museum.
