Winfred T. Ritcey (1878-1946) was described as a courteous, capable and energetic man who set out to provide mechanization at a reasonable cost for many inshore fishermen in Nova Scotia by founding Acadia Gas Engines Company in Bridgewater. Ritcey was also an avid fisherman and in 1937 he caught a 750-pound tuna which measured 9 feet, 2 inches long.
