DesBrisay Museum, Bridgewater

On January 12, 1899 at 3:30 a.m., Bridgewater suffered a devastating fire along its main commercial district. The fire started in the basement of the Music Hall at the corner of Dominion Street and consumed both sides of King Street extending up to Dufferin Street. Fifty-four buildings were destroyed. Photographer H.O. Dodge captured the scene, taken from the east side of the LaHave River looking to the fire.
