Edgar Keith Spinney was a self-made merchant who established his first business at the young age of 22. He would later become a Member of the Union Government, sat on several town boards and conducted business in the U.K., North America and the Europe. Mr. Spinney was the first Yarmouth native to hold a sit in the Canadian Cabinet in 1917. In 1926, his company, E.K. Spinney Limited was one of the leaders of mercantile establishments in the Maritimes. Mr. Spinney proves again that Yarmouth residents are not afraid of hard work.
