Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum, Middleton

Middleton Town Band in West Nova Scotia Regiment Dress, Bandmaster M.W. Harvey. The West Nova Scotia Regiment was created when the 69th Annapolis Regiement merged with the 75th Lunenburg County Regiment.

Military bands consist of personnel whose duties are to play music for military functions, such as Remembrance Day. The bands typically consist of wind and percussion instruments. Historically military bands would play "field music" which was used to control troops on the battlefield.
