Swimming at St. Peters Canal

Swimming in the canal was a popular activity. Once a year, Parks Canada hosts a 'swim the canal' event where participants can swim the length of the canal. This image also shows the wooden schooner, the Yankee. Built in the late 19th century, the Yankee sunk in Baddeck Bay in 1953.
