Yarmouth County Museum and Archives

The Markland Chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.) was founded by Mrs. G.W.T. Farish on October 1, 1917 with twenty-nine members. The group's motto was "Loyal In Everything" and the ladies set out to help in any way they could to the war effort. Once the war was over, the group changed their work to help their community. Still present today, the I.O.D.E work tirelessly to ensure their community flourishes and prospers.
