The Theater was built in 1922 and managed by English immigrant Bert Evans. The top floor housed apartments, the theater below sat 375 people and below that in the basement was a bowling alley. The Capitol Theater, built on the site of the original theater, opened November 5th 1936. In 1999 the theater closed. It reopened in 2000 as The Capitol Pub, a lounge and grill that is still a community icon.
