Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum, Middleton

March 30, 1832 a group of Halifax business men were authorised a capital of £100,000 by royal assent for the creation of the Bank of Nova Scotia. By the turn of the century the bank had several locations in Nova Scotia and had branched out into the Maritimes with plans to expand to the rest of Canada and the United States. The Bank of Nova Scotia is now Scotiabank.
