In 1928 it was decide that the Pines needed more than a facelift and the hotel should be built from the ground up, it was torn down, and finally in 1929 it was rebuilt and re-opened on June 24th, 1929. In 1966 the Government of Nova Scotia bought the Pines from the Canadian Pacific Railway. Since 2002, they are entered into a private sector company contract with New Castle Hotels and Resorts.
