     Then was Order'd to be Read the 2d Paragraph of his Excellys Letter in Relation to Mr Handfeilds Request which being also consider'd, The Presid.t Desired Mr hirreff to lay before the Board what Directions he had Received from his Excelly Concerning the same Whereupon M.r Shirreff Read a Letter from his Excelly to him which is as follows

     Then the Presid.t Desired Mr. Shirreff to declare to the Board what Enquiry he had made, who Answer'd yt he had Inform'd his Excellcy therewith by M.r Philipps, And also acquainted the Board of the Same Viz.t That he had been Inform'd that Mr Jennings one Marquise, And M.r Hamilton had Objections to said Grant, And also told the Board that he had Recd a Letter from L.t Governor Armstrong about said Jennings Wrote him by M.r Boreland which [17] Which was Orderd to be Read Whereupon the Board Agreed that Ensn Handfeild should be sent for to give in his pretentions, as also (the Other Claimants being absent) L.t Otho Hamilton was Call'd in to give in his Objections
 



Mr Shirreff acquaints the Board of the incumbrances upon mr Handfields Garden


     Mr Handfeild presented the Board with two papers, the one in french call'd An Authentick Copy of a Grant Made in the time of the french Govern mt to Christopher Cahouett Signed by Hermitt L.t Governor of Cape Breton the 12th 7ber 1700
