No objection to Lt. Governor Cosby having a grant of garden plot, provided no one else has a claim to it. His request for grant of land at Canso, deferred.

Shirreff to Philipps.2

On enquiry, S. has found that the heirs of Sir Charles Hobby, Lewis Allen, one Marquise and the Pobomcoups all claim some part of the garden. Govr Armstrong says he has a deed in favor of Sir Charles. In consequence, Cosby is willing to defer this claim, while pressing the claim for Canso.

Called them together to ask their advice; first, on Gov Cosby's request for a grant of land at Canso; second, petition of Lieut. Handfield "of my regiment" asking for garden behind the house he as built. Urged to consider the latter favorably.
