Charlie Symonds, a Cooper in Upper Hammonds Plains, 1949

The cooperage shop is behind Mr. Symonds. Charlie made this pickerel barrel in approximately 30 minutes and received $ .30 for his labour. After the 'bung' was bored in the side, he blew into it; his breath returning against his face indicated that the barrel was watertight.
